Deep Fried Turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving to all and I hope you eat more than you thought possible. I'm about to deep fry another turkey here at my house today, I've been deep fryin' them for the last five or so years, sooooo good. Just injected a little herb and garlic marinade into my 14 lb bird and am gonna go start heating up some oil here in a few. We awoke this morn to almost a half an inch of snow on the ground which is way cool and hopefully mucho more on the way. Now get out there and everyone do your snow dances cause if it doesn't start snowing soon I'm gonna have to move to Moab so I can ride my bike all winter, just kidding!

My Morning Commute

This is my morning commute every day, about two miles from my garage to the back of The Gear Exchange via bike path. The sound is mostly wind so you'll probably want to turn the volume down but otherwise enjoy, hopefully add some singletrack in this afternoon after my ride. niRad

Ooh it's a cold one!

Wow the commute in this morning was a brisk 20 degrees. I'm not completely ready for this kind of weather to be the norm round here. I'd like for the fall to come back, just because we "fell back" last weekend and lost an hour of daylight does not mean that the cold temps have to hang around too. Maybe just a couple of more sixty degree days please!? ;) Well the rollin' birthday party for Darin and Matthew (also headin to Nor's party!!) tonight should be a cold one too. Definitely will post some pics of that soon. Nirad

Oh how I love the desert!!

So the desert is super fun!! Especially with a screwdriver start.

This little buddy huddled under the protection of my big 'ol 29er tire, if I moved just a bit he'd follow along, pretty cool.

These have to be some of the coolest desert rocks i've ever seen, and placed so well here, just amazing.

Kinda forgot our pot for boilin' water, thank goodness we had some other forms of "cookware" so as to get our coffee goin' in the am:) I'd tell you where we were in these pics, but then I'd have to kill you, sorry!!!

24 Hours of Moab!

Well the 2008 24 hours of Moab is complete and the Stompaz have come away with a third place medal in the single rigid open class. Congrats to Michael Hayes, Ya Rasmussen (dave), Haulen Crack (dave), and Carl Green (Darin Binion). It all started with a huge dust storm and upwards of 40-50 mph winds, in the end we dealt with a cold front that rolled through and tried to freeze us at night. Also with a camp setup like this we were truly in the VIP all weekend while everyone else was pounded with sand we hung out next to the rock and well we got our share of pounding too but it was out on course more. Riding in the 24 hours of Moab is truly an experience one will not forget anytime soon. nirad

Well Vegas was crazy as usual, and at the end of the week I couldn't wait to get the hell outta there!! We were there for two days of dirt demo fun and three days of the show which will fry your brain in and of itself. So of course we went out every night also, in order to fry our brains a little more. Each night after we completely tired ourselves out we would leave the hotel bout ten thirty or so and ride our bikes around until three or so a.m. leaving us with even less, in the way of brain cells. More stuff and pics to come soon!

Dance party on wheels

The stomparillaz sound bike traveled with the gearx crew to fort collins. It was by far the best decision i have made in a while. Random dance parties are SWEET! we would stop in random spots, park the bike and start dancing. When you are jamming killer music load from a bike it is hard for people to not join in. Thanks Scuba Steve for letting the baby travel!

Home BOY repreSENT at TOUR DE FAT

Our friend and customer Jon Arnold is officially the SLOWEST rider in Fort Collins. He destroyed the competition and set a precedence for riding your bike slow and drinking your beer fast. Way to keep it real brotha! Free tune on Devon for kickin' a$$.

Another nice ride! On my Haro Mary SS.

Well I got out on another nice ride last monday. I started my day at five am or so got up had some breakfast put everything together in my Camelback and about six thirty am or so I took off. I rode out the canyon toward Dotsero (did you know the name Dotsero originated as Dot Zero) took a left and headed up the road toward Coffee Pot Rd. Anyone who has ever driven Coffee Pot Rd. know that the views from this road are amazing, you can see a lot of the surrounding area in only a few switchbacks. I was feeling pretty awesome on the way up and the original intention was to ride down No Name Cr. but when I got to that turn I was not ready to start my descent, so I kept goin. I rode past the turn off from last years ride, when I rode this same ride with gears, I swear it was easier this year, maybe it's the 29 inch wheels. Anyway, I rode past Heart Lake and Bison Lake and was thinking of continuing across for a while longer to descend Cline Top Rd. Impeding weather made me think a bit more about my long trek and so I began the traverse of ten or so miles (much more up and down) to Windy Point and blasted down Transfer Trail. Transfer is not the most fun descent in the world, at times there's some fun jumps and stuff but overall not my favorite. Anyway, after forty five minutes to an hour of descending from Windy Point I was back in town, cool it's 2:15 pm and I just rode approx. 78 miles, climbed around 6000 vertical, an 11 mph avg. speed and 7 hrs and 27 min in the saddle. Kick ass, I feel great so I call up my buddy Tal on the ride back toward home and set up to meet him up at the CMC disc golf course and play a round of 18 holes, you know to "walk off the ride". Well it wasn't my best game but i'm surely addicted to this new sport, ( I shot a 14) not bad for my fifth time ever playin'. Well what a great day off of work, got to play on my bike for hours (did I mention also that Coffee Pot Rd. is awesome for practicing wheelies, I rode some pretty long ones, it helps to break up the climb) and also threw some disc golf. That was my day off of work, what did you do with your day off this week?!

Just bringin' a couple of bikes to ride around this weekend (and across country) for SSWC (Single Speed World Championships) in Napa, CA. Max, Devon, and Ya Ya head out on a journey of sorts, Devon's sittin' in the back seat for the first part of the leg as he is in charge of building up Max's wheelset for his cross country adventure. Sure looks like it's gonna be an interesting trip, have fun fella's and take lots o' pics, check www.devonbaletphoto.com for fun stnuff. nirad

Sunset ride to 'Bonedale!

Pretty incredible sunset on the way over to the full moon cruiser ride last Sat. night, we had all kinds of fun, Slappy even put on some rollerblades for more mayhem. nirad

My friend Slappy

Sure will miss that guy they call Slappy, he's a one of a kind. Anyone who can run around with this much energy and zest for just being alive is truly a special person. Many people make all kinds of excuses as to why they cannot ride, Max doesn't he just rides. I cannot tell you the number of times he told me his knees hurt and just probably shouldn't ride "doctors orders" but did that stop him, oh no! he'd still be out leading the monday road rides, playin' polo til wee hours of the morn. or just general ridin' in circles, you know STOMPIN'. Anyway, dude we're gonna miss the numerous phone calls "is max there", no - "well do you know when he's comin in?" no - we just know when he is here shit gets done and there's a special energy in the air, an energy we all should emulate. So stop makin excuses why you cannot do somethin and just get out there and do it. nirad
